Supporting children all over the world - the daily work of Apprentis d'Auteuil
Apprentis d’Auteil is providing childhood support on an international level – Discover our everyday deeds and programs for underprivileged children.
Apprentis d’Auteuil is a foundation that is working every day to provide childhood support for all children and youth facing difficulties. Founded in Paris in 1866 by Abbé Roussel, a catholic priest, the charity has started programs for underprivileged children on an international level in 1986. Cooperation began with local organisations in Congo, Cameroon and Lebanon, and as of today, Apprentis d’Auteuil is working in about 53 countries, supporting children.
Daily childhood support
Apprentis d’Auteuil’s goal is to reach children in difficult situations and give them a chance for a better life. Our childhood support lies on several bases: we provide housing to children living on the streets, education and training for those who are experiencing difficulties in the school system, and we also support families struggling with abuse or financial problems.
By helping children in need, we work to make the future brighter, giving them the support to become responsible adults. Working in France and in countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, our activity has already great results.
Our international programs for underprivileged children
Let us tell you about two of our international projects which demonstrate how childhood support works on a daily basis. Indeed, Apprentis d’Auteuil works with a network of local partners in every country, assisting us to give the best care for children. In Peru for example, we are helping children in need with the association Qosco Maki since 2014, providing street children with housing and training. Our goal is to show them a different life and reintegrate them into society by teaching them self-confidence and work ethics.
We have similar programs for underprivileged children with Youth, Culture, Recreation, Technical and Social Interventions Organisation (JCLTIS) of Senegal, which started in 2000. Young Senegalese people who suffer from social exclusion have a chance to enroll in professional training (like sewing or welding). Their French counterparts visit them to exchange best practices and widen knowledge: a great way to learn about different cultures for children of both countries!
Besides local organisations, Apprentis d’Auteuil also regularly works with the United Nations Children’s Fund, helping children in need and submitting reports about the situation of children in different countries. If you would like to support our goals in childhood protection to provide education and a stable background to children and young people all over the world, please consider donating to Apprentis d’Auteuil.
