Apprentis d’Auteuil’s parent and child protection program – measures for social an educational reinsertion.

Apprentis d’Auteuil started 150 years ago in France and today, it has become one of the most prominent catholic child protection foundation in the world. Creating a specific child protection program in each country where we work, our goal is to help children grow up in a safe environment and be able to attend school to learn and find a place in society. Working as a family support charity as well, we provide education but also reinsertion and social skills trainings for parents and their children. Present in more than 50 countries, Apprentis d’Auteuil believes that self-confidence and trust can have a large impact in underprivileged people’s lives.

Our goals as a family support charity

Apprentis d’Auteuil has been working as a family support charity for several years now, and has gained the experience to make a difference in both children and their parents’ lives. We work on two levels: by preventing children dropping out of school and their families; and by helping them to return to their families instead of being placed in an institution on being forced to live on the streets.
By helping families in need and supporting parents in their role as first educators of their children, they can recreate and strengthen the family bond. Securing a healthy and safe family environment will have beneficial effects on both the parents and their children.

Helping families in need: The Family Open House Program

As a family support charity, our most important institutions are the Open Houses for families, present in various countries, like Lebanon. Here, parents and relatives can meet and share their experiences to find solutions for a better-working family life. Our foundation is helping families in need by providing them with psychological support and proposing activities to them. Nothing is forced, but they are encouraged to face their problems and try to solve them, gaining confidence and pride in their actions.
In many cases, these social centers welcome women and children at risk. Having access to tutoring and training, they have a chance to change their lives and break the cycle of poverty and unemployment.

Parent and child protection program in Morocco

One of our recent projects to fund is the creation of support services in Morocco with a local family support charity. Our objective is to support parents in their role as educators and parents and provide them with resources to integrate the professional world. By implementing these services, we will be helping families in need, including single mothers and street children in difficult situations.
